The City of Upper Arlington is seeking one (1) Leaf Vacuum Trailer used in the collection of leaves. The type of machine stated and specified in this bid package is an automated collection system powered by a minimum of 84 horsepower diesel tier 4 compliant engine and a hydraulic system controlled by an employee on a “rider” seat.


The City of Upper Arlington encourages all businesses, including minority and women-owned businesses to respond.

Is there an expected deadline for delivery of the unit and is there a penalty for not adhering to the deadline?
Answer The expected deadline for delivery of the leaf collection machine is August 30, 2024. Supply chain issues, potentially causing a delay, will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Question
Will you accept a proposal that does NOT include a rider seat, but an alternative?

Our manufacturer does not and will not produce a unit with a rider seat and discourages such construction. There have been units with this design that have caused operator injury and even the unfortunate outcome of death. For these reasons, the legal team of our manufacturer has vowed to not allow this design of construction.

Our alternative supplies the choice of either a tethered remote or a wireless remote in which the operator can walk alongside the unit while operating and have full control of the vacuum boom. This actually gives the operator better vision of the boom and ground contact with regards to the obstacles in the tree lawn while collecting the wind rows and piles of leaves, and keeps them away from the motoring traffic and blind view of the driver transporting the collection trailer.
