Description:

Sealed Bids for the ATHENS ARMORY REHABILITATION project for the Athens Community Improvement Corporation (ACIC), Athens, Ohio, will be received by the ACIC, at the City Building, 8 East Washington Street, until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023. At that time and place, they will be publicly opened and read aloud. All bids will be considered valid until 60 days after the opening date, although not accepted or rejected.

The work for which proposals are invited consists of the furnishing of all labor, materials and equipment for the construction of the Athens Armory Rehabilitation project.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for November 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., in the front entry at the project site.

Each bid shall contain the full name and address of each person or company interested in the same. It shall be accompanied by a proposal bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the bid, or by a certified check, cashier's check or irrevocable letter of credit for ten percent (10%) of the bid, made payable to the Athens Community Improvement Corporation, conditioned that if the bid is accepted, a contract will be entered into within ten (10) days after notice of acceptance. A performance bond of one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the contract with a satisfactory surety company, conditioned according to law, will be required for the faithful performance of the contract. The bidder will be required to state in full detail on his/her proposal his/her experience in this class of work, and bids from contractors inexperienced in this particular class of work will not be considered. The work shall commence upon written notice of award by the ACIC.

Domestic steel use requirements as specified in Ohio Revised Code §153.011 apply to this project. Copies of §153.011 can be obtained from any of the offices of the department of administrative services or through http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/153.011.

The Contractor must comply with the Prevailing Wage Rates on public improvements in Athens County as ascertained by the State of Ohio Department of Industrial Relations.

The Athens Community Improvement Corporation reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids and to waive informalities as may be in its best interest.
