Description:

Electronic proposals for the ATH-WEST UNION STREET Project, ODOT PID 108672, City Project #322, will be received by the City of Athens, Ohio, through http://www.bidexpress.com until 9:00 AM on June 21, 2023. At that time, the electronic proposals will be downloaded and read aloud at the City Building, 8 East Washington Street, Athens Ohio. Hard copy proposals will not be accepted by the City.

The project includes 0.9 miles of widening, milling and overlay, and full depth reconstruction of West Union Street and Herrold Avenue, including new storm sewer, waterline, sanitary sewer force main, curb and gutter, sidewalk, multi-use path, and lighting in the City of Athens.

The Engineer’s Estimate for Contract 1 (Herrold Avenue) is $1,156,353.63 the estimate for Contract 2 (West Union Street) is $5,949,156.58, and the estimate for combined Contract 1 & 2 is $6,970,286.97. Bidders can submit bids for any of the above contracts.

Qualifications:
The contractor must be ODOT pre-qualified. Only prequalified contractors will be eligible to
submit bids for construction projects. Prequalification status must be in force at the time of
bidding, the time of sale, the time of award, and through the life of the construction contract. For
work types that ODOT does not prequalify, the City of Athens will select a qualified contractor. Subcontractors are not subject to the prequalification requirement.

The “Prime” contractor must perform no less than thirty percent (30%) of the total original contract price.
