Sealed bids for the City of Athens, Municipal Solid Waste and Recycling Collection services will be received by the City of Athens, Ohio, at the City Building, 8 East Washington Street, until 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 15

, 2022. At that time and place, they will be publicly opened and read aloud. All bids will be considered valid until 120 days after the opening date, although not accepted or rejected.
Copies of specifications may be obtained from the office of the Mayor at the City Building, 8 East Washington Street, Athens, Ohio, 45701, 740-592-3338, where they are available for inspection by prospective bidders. Prospective bidders may request specifications electronically by contacting the Code Enforcement Office at 740-592-3306 or codeoffice@ci.athens.oh.us

Each bid shall contain the full name and address of each person or company interested in the same and shall be accompanied by a personal bond, in accordance with Section 153.54 of the Ohio Revised Code, in the amount of 100% of one year of the bid, or by a certified check, cashier’s check or irrevocable letter of credit for ten percent (10%) of one year of the bid, made payable to the City of Athens, Ohio, conditioned that if a bid is accepted, a contract will be entered into within (10) ten days after notice of acceptance. Anticipated notice of acceptance will be March 31

, 2023. A performance bond of the one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of one year of the contract with a satisfactory surety company will be required for the performance of the contract.
All bids must be clearly marked on the exterior with the words “Municipal Solid Waste and Recycling Collection”.
The City of Athens reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids and to waive informalities as may be in its best interest.
